The countdown to the start of work at Syracuse's Nicola De Simone Stadium, formerly Vittorio Emanuele III Stadium, is over: in the last few hours, the grandiose project to install the synthetic turf at the Sicilian sports facility, which will see new light within 75 days, has officially begun.
Also making the undertaking possible from the tight deadline is Italgreen - winner of the contract to resurface the synthetic turf at the stadium in Leone Cuella Square.
Behind the Bergamo-based company is an enviable Curriculum: from Juventus, Vinovo, Chievo Verona to playing fields in South America, Japan and Europe.

In these hours the bulldozers of Impresa Mammana are in action and are removing the old playing surface that will be replaced, with a synthetic turf of the latest generation.
Great satisfaction from the Mayor of Syracuse, who is enthusiastic about the start of the work on schedule during the operational phase, a satisfaction also expressed by the General Manager of Syracuse Calcio, Gaetano Cutrufo: "It's an important day for Syracuse because within a couple of months we will have a high quality synthetic turf surface."

The Nicola De Simone stadium will be the third sports facility in the C round equipped with a synthetic turf (to date, only Trapani and Castellamare di Stabia have it) and Italgreen expects to deliver it within the 75-day time frame, so the team can play its first matches in September in the much-dreamed-of new facility.
So off to a start are the earthworks for the approved subgrade, drainage, sewage works and the installation of the synthetic with new goals that will allow the De Simone to acquire a more modern look.
