The steps in the design of a soccer field
The first step in designing a soccer field is an inspection to verify that the ground has the appropriate characteristics to accommodate the future playing field. These include the dimensions:
- the field can range from 32x18m to 42x25m
- the goals must be 3x2m
- the penalty spot is 6m from the goal line
At this stage, the topographical survey is crucial and helps to determine the slope of the field, if any. In fact, the surface of the field should be smooth and flat so as to promote spectacular play and ball rolling.

After the inspection
At this point, the actual planning begins, which includes:
- the technical feasibility study
- the economic feasibility study with the various cost items
- the elaboration of the design of the soccer field
- the construction of the field
- the laying of the synthetic turf, which in turn includes three phases (soil stabilization, turf laying, infilling and brushing)
- the laying of complementary works, such as fencing, lighting system, equipment, and irrigation system
