Sport Verde Comune 2020: energy saving and green economy for sports facilities
Energy efficiency now affects every sector, including sports facilities. Sport Green Municipality 2020 makes it possible to invest in the energy conservation of sports centers and the construction of synthetic turf with 100 percent plant-based infill.
ICS, the Istituto per il Credito Sportivo, together with the government, renews its commitment to cope with the economic emergency caused by the COVID-19 epidemic through some extraordinary measures designed for sports enterprises to facilitate them in restarting. In fact, the "Sport Green Municipality 2020" call for proposals is an important financial support for Local Authorities and Regions that want to invest in sports in an environmentally sustainable way.

The "Sport Verde Comune 2020" project
The Sport Verde Comune 2020 call for proposals is finally online: the project allows Local Authorities and Regions to apply for 0-interest financing for investments:
- in efficiency and energy savings in existing sports facilities (efficiency of bills and certified consumption)
- in the use of renewable sources
- in the production of energy with environmentally friendly systems (photovoltaics, cogeneration etc.)
- In the realization of 100% vegetation blankets
"Sport Verde Comune 2020" not only represents an opportunity to improve the quality and quantity of sports facilities in Italy, but also promotes territorial micro-development that creates employment and widespread sociality. Sports activity, in fact, can become the key to rebuilding the social and relational fabric after the emergency and ensuring quality of life and well-being for citizens.
The same Andrea Abodi, president of the ICS, argues that "Infrastructure on the assumptions of decorum, safety, sustainability, accessibility and intelligence will play an increasingly important role in the sporting and social experience of those who practice sports at all levels, with increasing attention to be devoted to the health of the people who attend them and respect for the environment in which they are inserted, including through an extensive, effective, progressive and planned operation of energy upgrading."
The resources available
The ICS makes available up to 15 million euros for total interest relief and zero interest charges.
Each project can avail of a fixed-rate loan up to the amount of €500,000 with a maximum amortization term of 20 years.
