Why you should start investing in padel fields too
Padel is a sport that is becoming more and more popular in Italy, becoming a real trend even among some celebrities. For this reason, investing in padel is proving to be increasingly convenient. Are you familiar with this growing phenomenon?

Padel courts are increasingly sought after in sports facilities throughout Italy, especially by athletes looking for fun alternatives to their workouts, or more simply by people looking for a new sport to keep fit while having fun and meeting new people.
The remarkably growing demand is one of the reasons why it makes sense to include a padel court in one's sports facility, but before revealing why we really find it worthwhile to invest in padel, let's take a step back for a moment, explaining well what it is all about.
What is padel (or paddle)
Padel (or paddle tennis) is a sport recognized by the Italian Tennis Federation that is played with a full flat racket and a ball. It basically has the same rules as tennis, but is played on a special padel court with solid walls on which the ball is bounced during play, and involves four players, two per team.
It is a middle ground between tennis, squash and, if we want to emphasize the ease of play, even racquetball.
Dedicated padel facilities have become very popular in recent years. In fact, the great accessibility of the sport has led to an increasing number of practitioners, so much so that more and more people are coming to invest in padel, precisely because of the great success it is having.
What padel courts look like
A padel court measures approximately 20 m x 10 m and is suitable for both outdoor and indoor play. Specifically, a "standard" court has the following dimensions:
- Wall height: 3 meters
- Height of the fence: 4 meters
- Net height: 88 cm in the middle and 92 cm at the ends
- Length of the net: 10 meters
- Distance between the net and the side setback lines: about 7 meters on each side
A padel court also recalls many elements of a tennis court, in fact it consists of:
- Non-slip floor
- Tempered glass walls
- Galvanized or plastic-coated mesh fencing
- Non-glare lighting

Iron structures for padel courts patented by Italgreen
One of the foundational elements of a padel court is the type of walls and fences. Italgreen's signature iron padel courts feature sturdy structures that stand the test of time thanks to the use of an advanced hot-dip galvanizing process and heat-cured powder coating.

In addition, all synthetic turf for sports fields produced by Italgreen meets the strictest tests and is certified by the most important national and international federations.
Padel fields: why choose synthetic turf
Let us now focus on the ideal flooring for padel courts, one of the most important aspects to evaluate before building one in your facility.
Regulations require flooring that fully meets the requirements of hardness, roughness and elasticity appropriate for the game. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, players must be able to rely on a floor that is non-slip but at the same time allows the ball to bounce smoothly. Several facilities opt for painted concrete, but it has several shortcomings.

We at Italgreen recommend a floor made with synthetic grass, such as the innovative Padel Pro and Padel FIb turfs. From a performance point of view, in fact, synthetic grass allows:
- greater playing comfort
- to have perfect trajectories
- an optimal ball bounce
- a perfect grip and glide of the foot
Why invest in padel?
Why, then, invest in padel? One of the first reasons why more and more people are interested in this type of investment is "practical" in nature.
In fact, a padel field made of synthetic turf requires little maintenance and is perfect 365 days a year, regardless of the passing seasons and weather. In other words, after installation there is no need to spend too much time and money to keep the synthetic grass as intact as on day one.
Another (very good) reason concerns the return on investment: the current demand for facilities equipped to handle the sport is growing exponentially, with demand steadily increasing. Although estimating how much a padel court yields is quite complex, a couple of quick considerations will certainly help you realize the convenience of investing in padel.
This is why we believe that opening one or more padel courts in your sports facility is a good choice in terms of economic return. But how much does it cost to install such a facility?
How much does it cost to invest in padel?
While it is true that investing in padel today turns out to be particularly profitable, it is also true that several expensesneed to be considered when building a quality court.
In particular, three basic elements must be considered when calculating the costs of a padel court:
- The costs of the turfyou want to use
- The costs of the materials needed to build the field
- The cost of labor, i.e., the performance of the specialists who will do the installation
And that's not all. Of course, one must also check the state of the ground on which the field is going to be built, and then calculate any leveling or other field preparation work.
How to invest in padel?
We have seen that in order to invest in padel, it is necessary to incur initial expenses, which can amount to a large sum.
This, however, should not be a reason for discouragement, in fact, again this year it is possible to take advantage of various funding to facilitate the construction of your own padel court.
These include:
- Liquidity Decree, which provides an "Emergency for Sport" fund for amateur associations registered with CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee). The amount that can be applied for must remain between 3,000 and 25,000 euros with a repayment plan of up to 6 years
- Ordinary ICS loan, which can only be granted to finance projects for the renovation or construction of new sports centers. Loan repayment must not exceed 25 years and there is no maximum amount.
- Sport bonus: introduced in 2018, 10 .5 million euros has been made available for 2023 for sports center renovation projects. In this case, it is a tax credit for loans of up to 40,000 euros.
