Anti-bacterial synthetic grass: the novelty Sani Grass

A constant sanitizing action over time that allows significant savings in field sanitation costs: this is the main advantage of Sani Grass, the first anti-bacterial synthetic grass on the market, developed by Italgreen. Find out all the features of the new product and the bacteria against which it is effective.

Drops of sweat, the soles of shoes and even the water used for cleaning can be carriers of sometimes dangerous bacteria that undermine both the hygiene of the field and the health of athletes.

Therefore, in 2018, the FIGC-LND (National Amateur League) recommends treating synthetic turf playing fields with sanitizing and antibacterial cleaners. Regular field sanitization is certainly an option to consider, but today there is another way forward: installing an antibacterial type of grass.

Sani Grass, the antibacterial synthetic grass by Italgreen

Since 1983 at Italgreen we have been active in the installation and design of synthetic turf: the latest solution developed by our R&D department is called Sani Grass.

It is the first antibacterial synthetic grass, created with the support of the Swiss company Sanitized and accredited by Accredia, the only Italian certifying body.

The revolution of Sani Grass lies precisely in the fact that this turf is self-sanitizing toward the bacteria most commonly found on playing fields.

Against which bacteria is Sani Grass synthetic turf effective?

Sani Grass is a patented synthetic grass with a slow-release battery charge-it has a constant emigration over 5 years.

Specifically, Sani Grass counteracts Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria.

Be careful, however, not to get confused: Sani Grass is an antibacterial synthetic grass, not an antiviral!

The benefits of antibacterial synthetic grass

The reasons for resorting to the installation of this type of turf are mainly of order:

  • economic - antibacterial synthetic turf provides significant savings on routine sanitation costs. For example, the LND recommends sanitizing the playing surface bimonthly, about 6 times a year: this means that with Sani Grass you can potentially save up to 30 sanitizations ( the bacterial load is gradually released over 5 years)
  • performance-whether used for training or official games, the playing field is still contaminated by athletes' and operators' sweat, and other factors. Therefore, Sani Grass's antibacterial technology, acts not only on the grass pile, but also on the infill, to ensure consistent sanitizing action over time.

Play it safe: for your playground, choose Italgreen antibacterial technology
