How to sanitize synthetic turf fields?
Maintaining proper sanitation is more necessary today than ever before. This includes synthetic turf fields for soccer and other sports, such as soccer, tennis, rugby, and golf. But how do you sanitize synthetic turf? Simple, Italgreen takes care of it!
In 2018, the FIGC-LND is the first sports institution in Europe to make it mandatory to treat synthetic turf playing fields with sanitizing detergents. The regulations are contained in the "Official Communiqué No. 283 - 2018/2019 Sports Season," which deals with certain rules related to the proper construction, maintenance and sanitization of artificial turf fields.
The decision came after a study by the University of Catania headed by Dr. Cinzia Randazzo, professor of Agri-food Microbiology, who pointed out that playing fields are, in fact, a receptacle for more or less dangerous bacteria.
Studies confirm the importance of sanitizing artificial turf
Dr. Randazzo's study confirmed, for the first time, the presence, even in synthetic turf fields, of bacteria.
After all, microorganisms that are potentially hazardous to the health of athletes reach synthetic tur f fields through multiple pathways: microparticles of sweat, the soles of shoes, the water used to clean the ground or the continuous trampling of athletes, and other factors.
Nothing, however, that cannot be solved.

For the sanitization of synthetic turf fields, special products must be used. In the case of soccer, for example, the products must be certified by the C.I.S.E.A. (Commissione Impianti Sportivi Erba Artificial) of the National Amateur League (LND).
Sanitization treatments, moreover, must be periodic: again the LND stipulates that artificial turf playing fields undergo periodic sanitization treatments to protect the health of all users, usually about every two months.
